ANDROGENETIC ALOPECIA IS HEREDITARY.
Most men (up to 85%) start to lose their hair as they age, and for most of them it's hereditary and can be blamed on Androgenetic Alopecia. That's the good news wrapped in the bad news. Because we've isolated the cause of most men's hair loss, we've identified a few proven solutions that hold great promise for balding men. However...
HAIR LOSS IS VERY PERSONAL.
Our studio is called Unique Hair Concepts because everyone's hair loss progresses differently and everyone responds differently to different treatments – even men. We take a very personalized approach that uses prevention proactively and Trichology throughout. The result is a unique plan aimed at the greatest results for each client. We choose solutions strategically based on what's happening with your hair follicles, and we measure your results in follow-up appointments.
DHT DOES THE DAMAGE.
In male pattern baldness, or Androgenic Alopecia, the male hormone testosterone is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This hormone binds to hair follicles and forces hair out of the active growing stage of its growth cycle. When the stunted hairs fail to grow to full size, we say that they've miniaturized. Over time, more hair becomes shorter and finer, and it loses pigmentation. Eventually the miniaturized hair follicles die and strands of hair fall out permanently, never to be replaced. This is the process we're trying to interrupt with our Hair Loss Prevention efforts, and it's one reason no man should hesitate to deal with his hair loss.
THERE ARE SOME OTHER POSSIBILITIES.
Because male pattern baldness is so common, most things you read about men's hair loss will apply to most men. However, androgenetic alopecia is not the only cause of hair loss. About 5% of hair loss in men can be attributed to other causes, which can include physical or emotional trauma, hormone imbalances, nutrition problems, or an underlying medical condition. This is the other reason you shouldn't hesitate to deal with hair loss. The odds are good that it's just male pattern baldness, but something else could be wrong. If you're losing your hair, act immediately. Hair loss is progressive and it won't improve if you don't take action.
